As I sit lounging on this huge bumpy rock, soaking up rays of sun on this cute little beach, I can’t help but think about my life. Everything that’s happened has brought me to this moment, right here and now. It sure has been a bumpy road getting to where I am now, but i’ve learned a lot about myself in the process. I used to hate the life I’d been dealt and I wanted things to be different, I just didn’t know how.
It wasn’t until I met someone who shares the same desires in life as I do, that I realized it was time to quit making excuses. I fell in love with Tristian, and we then both fell deep in love with our dream of creating the life we want together. We face new obstacles every day, which can sometimes be frustrating, but we know what we want, and we are ready to work for it.
I often reminisce about our past explorations together, to keep that desire burning. As we mentioned in our first post, Gaff Point was our very first hike together! If I thought I was falling in love with Tristian before, I had no clue what I was in for until that day. Gaff Point brought out the absolute best in both of us and there wasn’t a single moment that I thought about anything besides how happy we were.
A two hour hike ended up taking us four hours to complete, because we went off the path so much. We both like to take the path less travelled in life, sometimes resulting in taking much longer than anticipated. But when you’re living in the moment, time doesn’t exist, and that is a beautiful feeling.
I can never get over the amount of vibrant colours that blend together to make such beautiful scenery! The beach is very nice as well, which reminds me that the only downfall of this hike is that you have to cross the entire beach on a tonne of small rounded rocks, which can be hard on the feet and ankles, but it’s a great work out and totally worth it in the end.
When Tristian and I completed this hike for the first time we were still very fresh into the beginning of our relationship. We learned a lot about each other that day because our true spirits came to life. It’s amazing what cute details you can pick up on with your significant other when you’re not distracted by all the hustle and bustle that goes on in day to day life. It is so important for our souls to unplug from our phones (and other distractions), to just be in the moment every once in a while.
If you enjoy the simplicity of nature, or seeking out your next date or adventure, this is a great place to be! It is absolutely beautiful with breathtaking views. I would recommend this trail to any couple! It is not extremely difficult so if you’re a beginner its perfect for you! Plus, there is a secret beach that involves using a rope to climb down a cliff to get to the sand, which I have to admit is pretty exhilarating!
Watch our video below to see clippings of Gaff Point, Secret Beach (me climbing down the cliff), some images we took during the hike with spectacular views!
We highly recommend this hike when you’re in Nova Scotia.
